Maintenance Manager - Byerwen

We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to join the team at Byerwen coal mine, located near Glenden in the Bowen Basin. This role is responsible for supporting the Project Manager to supervise maintenance work activities, while maintaining a healthy and safe working environment. The primary objective of the role is to ensure the project meets mechanical and plant targets by managing the department with clear strategies, supervising maintenance planning and setting clear asset management goals. It is an essential part of the position to effectively engage the maintenance workforce, liaise with other departments and develop client relationships to create a culture that delivers on performance and safety. 
 

Key responsibilities/duties include: 

 

  • Promote a safe and healthy workplace culture by ensuring adherence to company and statutory HSEQ requirements and supporting the workforce to comply with relevant policies and procedures
  • Optimise project and plant KPIs by monitoring maintenance planning and implementing department strategies amongst the operations
  • Drive continuous improvement and identify growth opportunities across the business 
  • Supervise the modification and/or upgrade of equipment and facilities 
  • Consolidate site reports for daily, weekly and monthly reporting in order to provide clear and accurate communication to stakeholders on project and department performance 
  • Ensure business processes are upheld and meet internal, client and statutory requirements 
  • Lead and motivate a diverse maintenance workforce, including the maintenance planning team, to drive high standards of safety and meet project targets 
  • Recognise and support opportunities for personal development in the workforce, including the leadership team, to build internal capability and drive performance 
  • Stay informed on the latest technical developments from OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) in order to be advised, as required, on any technical problem that arise from the use of project equipment
  • Support the Project Manager with financial targets by identifying and mitigating financial risks, developing and implementing annual budgets, and driving financial success in the department 

 

The successful candidate will have:

 

  •  A demonstrated, broad, knowledge of maintenance practices and statutory HSEQ requirements relevant to open cut mining equipment 
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience at a senior management level, ideally in a similar role managing a large mine site workshop
  • The ability to adapt to different project and/or client requirements 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in engineering 
  • Manual driver’s licence (C Class) 
  • Competence and experience with Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERP) and/or Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) 
  • Highly efficient verbal and written communication skills and moderate computer literacy 
  • Coal Board Medical and Standard 11 (desirable)
