HD Fitter - Byerwen

Macmahon is a leading Australian contract mining company with projects throughout Australia and Southeast Asia. Delivering a comprehensive range of surface and underground mining, civil design and construction, performance enhancement, and mine site maintenance and rehabilitation services to the resources sector.

Due to the continuous growth and strengthening of our position Australia wide Macmahon has an opportunity for experienced Heavy Diesel Fitters on a 7:7 roster DIDO at our Byerwen Mine which is located approximately 20kms west of the town of Glenden in the northern Bowen Basin and is Macmahon’s largest project on the east coast.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the positions are responsible for carrying out quality preventative and breakdown maintenance services to heavy mobile mining equipment.


The successful applicant will:
Diagnose and repair equipment efficiently and consistently adhering to requiring standards of work
• Component change outs as required
• Maintain an appropriate inventory of spare parts
• Read engineering drawings and make equipment
• Ensure that repairs and adjustments to equipment are consistent with the required standard of work and equipment availability (EOFT, manufacturers minimum specifications and site work procedures and standards)
• Fault finding on various machines, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, schematic drawing, and relevant diagnostic software
• Operation of mobile equipment within limits of competence, training, and experience
• Accurate completion of technical documentation, reports and drawings as required
• Use of computerized maintenance systems (SAP), to complete time confirmations, raising notifications and closing work orders
• Conducting safety inspections of maintenance tools and equipment, and recommending any appropriate maintenance or other response

The ideal candidate will have:
• Australian Recognized Trade Certificate
• Demonstrated experience in repairs and maintenance of Large Mining Surface equipment including Excavators (Ideally Liebherr)
• Coal Board Medical and S11
• Valid Driver’s license
• Dedicated commitment to safety and quality assurance
