Project Manager

Job Responsibilities

TMM was acquired by Macmahon Holdings (MAH:ASX) in 2018 to rebuild the civil business unit across Australia. With civil and mining projects across Australia we are able offer a wide range of projects and locations as well as various career progression opportunities.
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated Project Manager to join the Macmahon Civil team. Based across multiple mine sites within the Bowen Basin and reporting to the Area Manager East, this role will be responsible for the management of one or multiple civil project sites within the mining and construction industry.

The successful applicant will:
• Provide leadership and monitor compliance to the agreed project plan and Macmahon business processes to ensure that projects deliver safety, production, maintenance and financial performance;
• Have strong commercial acumen with an ability to monitor, report, and drive budgets and forecasts;
• Maintain and implement Health and Safety on site by complying with relevant state legislation, acts, regulations, company procedures and site requirements;
• Lead the cooperation and coordination between the client and senior management at site.
• Ensure that the Coal Mining Act and Regulations are adhered to at all times;
• Select, manage and develop the senior managers in order to optimize project performance.
• Ensure the project is adequately resourced in line with the contract and in accordance with Macmahon’s Recruitment Procedure;
• Monitor the management of the critical risk register for the entire project and ensure mandatory controls are in place; and
• Monitor and control project costs, provide regular financial forecasts, develop and review claims, understand and report on the financial status of the project.


The ideal candidate will have:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Project Management with proven ability of leading large teams
• Civil Engineering Degree (desirable)
• Development and Management of budgets ranging from $20m - $100m
• Implementation of Mining Statutory Compliance including HSEQ, Mine Regulations, Work Safe etc.
• Management and coordinating of large scale multi-functional groups and team
• Formal qualification in project management and frontline management or engineering (desirable)

As a part of the recruitment process for this role you may be required to complete a pre-employment medical, inclusive of laboratory drug and alcohol screen and complete a criminal history and qualification checks. Additionally, you will be asked to provide proof of working rights in Australia i.e. copy of valid Australian passport, birth certificate, citizenship certificate or current visa grant notification where applicable.

We will accept both local to the Bowen Basin or FIFO candidates. A company vehicle will be provided for the successful applicant along with camp accommodation and the flights to home base within Queensland for FIFO applicants.
