About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Commercial Superintendent to join our team. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this position provides leadership and oversight of all Surface West financial and commercial activities to support safe, efficient, and financially sustainable operations.
You will play a critical role in financial governance, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis while delivering clear commercial insights to support operational decision-making. Leading the Surface West Commercial team, you will work closely with operational leaders, corporate finance and senior management to ensure strong financial outcomes and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring effective cost control and capital management
- Manage monthly financial reporting and close processes, delivering accurate and timely insights
- Analyse financial performance, identify trends, and communicate outcomes to operational and senior stakeholders
- Facilitate cost review meetings and partner with operations to drive improved financial performance
- Provide commercial and financial insight to support capital investment and operational decisions
- Conduct analysis of improvement and value creation opportunities across site operations
- Perform contract performance analysis and support commercial negotiations
- Ensure compliance with financial governance, regulatory, and reporting obligations
- Lead, coach, and develop the Commercial team, fostering a high-performance culture
- Coordinate and report on cost saving initiatives set by the business
- Facilitate and support meetings with external stakeholders
- Prepare and present financial report, presentations and technical analysis
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in finance or related field
- Strong commercial awareness
- Good knowledge of financial and accounting processes
- Sound risk management knowledge
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to understand and interpret contractual documentation
- Excellent command of Microsoft applications, particularly Excel
- Self-starter that thinks ahead
- Experience within mining
- Proven experience in the following:
- Commercial contracts and models
- Writing formal correspondence
- Contract interpretation
- Dispute processes
- Stakeholder engagement
- Negotiations
Role Details
- Location: Macmahon Head Office – Perth (Near T2)
- Roster: 5:2 | Monday to Friday
