HSEQ Advisor - Surface Projects

We are currently looking for an experienced HSEQ Advisor to join our Health, Safety, Environment and Quality team based in our headquarters at Perth Airport. Although this role is offered on a 5 days on 2 days off Monday to Friday roster, extensive travels to our surface projects across Australia will be required on the regular basis. Some of the travel may be required outside of the 5:2 roster depending on our operational requirements.

Reporting to Manager - HSEQ, duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing a high degree of HSEQ support and guidance to domestic and international surface mining projects;
  • Assisting sites with ensuring compliance with the Management System procedures for Document Control and Control of Management System Records, ensuring policies and objectives are observed and followed in the execution of tasks;
  • Supporting sites with the coordination of the workplace inspection and audit system and undertake internal HSE audits of the system or associated processes, procedures and workplace practices;
  • Guiding sites in the implementation of the Macmahon HSEQ Management System standards, through the site specific HSEQ Management Plan and effective implementation and monitoring of the HSEQ Activity Planner;
  • Implementing and facilitating of Safety Interaction programs and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Programs;
  • Delivering HSEQ training in compliance with the relevant procedures / plans as well as Macmahon HSEQ Management System;
  • Monitoring performance against the HSEQ strategic plan and objectives;
  • Completing all required lead indicator (HSEQ KPI) related activities (Task Observations, etc), when on site;
  • Assisting with project start-ups and tender submissions for new projects;
  • Promoting continuous improvement approach to HSEQ; and
  • Lead and support the projects’ with serious incident investigations.
To be considered for a role, you will require:
  • Previous experience in a similar role, accompanied by tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety; 
  • Working knowledge of the Mines Safety Inspection Act (WA) and similar legislation in other states;
  • Experience in HSEQ management systems such as INCONTROL;
  • Qualification in incident investigation such as ICAM;
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and engagement skills;
  • High level of computer literacy;
  • A 'can do' attitude with a strong desire to succeed in the role and a passion for health, safety, environment and community;
  • Ability to travel to remote locations domestically and internationally on a short notice; 
  • Ability to adapt to different projects and/ or clients requirements;
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116) will be an advantage;
  • Senior First Aid Certificate; and
  • Current Manual "C" Class WA Drivers Licence or equivalent.
