Auto Electrician - Perth Workshop

Macmahon is currently seeking an experienced Auto-Electrician to join the Macmahon team at the central Perth Workshop. 

 

 

Skills and Experience:


•    Be willing to be part of an active team in a dynamic workplace
•    Actively promote looking after your work mates and yourself
•    Service and repair heavy earthmoving equipment as per job scopes
•    Repair equipment efficiently and consistently within the required working timeframes
•    Update the supervisor with the progress of work task allocations
•    Assist in the training and upskilling of apprentices
•    Review machine conditions for any required updates
•    Assist in equipment appraisals to ensure scoping of repairs 
•    Perform all tasks and duties in accordance with established work procedures
•    Identify the safest, most effective and efficient methods of work
•    Ensure that a clear hand-over is completed with other members of your team
•    Wear and maintain correct personal protective equipment
•    Report accidents, incidents and hazards using correct procedures
•    Inspect work area and equipment for hazards, damage and defects prior to commencing work
•    Ensure work area is maintained according to correct housekeeping and environmental procedures

 

 

To be successful in this position you will:


•    Possess essential experience on CAT mobile mining equipment, other additional manufacturers an advantage
•    Possess extensive maintenance and workshop based experience in machine repairs including fault finding, diagnostics and machine rebuild repairs

Job Summary

The purpose of this role is to install, service, repair and replace electrical systems in various plant equipment

Job Responsibilities

Health, Safety and Risk

  • Ensure individual compliance with all relevant legislation, codes of practice, Macmahon and Client instructions, policies, procedures and practices
  • Diagnose and repair equipment efficiently and consistently adhering to requiring standards of work
  • Inspect work area and equipment for hazards, damage and defects prior to commencing work
  • Ensure all materials are used and all waste is disposed in a environmentally friendly way
  • Make use of workshop manuals/operation manuals when required

Technical/Operational

  • Fit, service and repair alternators, starter motors and air conditioning units
  • Report any items that cannot be repaired via the work order system or documented on check sheets, this still requires the Leading Hand/Supervisor to be notified
  • Complete test tag for all tasks
  • Assist in equipment appraisals to ensure scoping of repairs
  • Review machine conditions for any required updates
  • Service and repair heavy earthmoving equipment as per job scopes
  • Ensure that the Supervisors’ daily record is kept up to date
  • Make use of workshop manuals/operation manuals when required
  • Repair and service mining equipment both in workshop and out in field when required on breakdowns
  • Able and willing to conduct other tasks when required

Commercial/Financial

  • Ensure work is done correctly the first time to the acceptable standard so there is no rework
  • Demonstrate an awareness of costs and financial impacts of the work

Team Contribution

  • Communicate clearly and keep the Supervisor aware of the state of equipment in the mine in particular with respect to potential problem areas and downtime

  • Applicable Trade Qualification in Mining Equipment Maintenace
  • Trade Qualified Auto Electrician
Tickets/Licences
  • Manual Driver's Licence (C Class)
  • Ticket in Air Conditioning
