Advisor - Injury Management

Macmahon has an exciting opportunity for an Injury Management Advisor to join our team at Macmahon’s Perth office. Reporting to the Injury Management Specialist, this is a varied role within an energetic, established team.

About the role 

  • Full-time permanent based in our Perth Head Office.
  • Maintain the injury management database (Solv Injury) and ensure that accurate and detailed records are retained.
  • Review Pre-employment medicals and ensure advice is provided to the Recruitment/ Mobilisation team.
  • Facilitate the businesses early intervention program.
  • Provide training and education to HSEQ regarding the business’ injury management processes.
  • Submit Workers Compensation (WC) and Income Protection (IP) claims.
  • Ensure State or Territory WC legislation is adhered to.
  • Liaise with WC insurers to ensure there is continual high level strategic analysis of claims to help mitigate costs and ensure workers resume their normal duties as soon as practicable.
  • Attend claims reviews with insurers on a quarterly basis.
  • Assist sites with the coordination of Doctor and Allied Health reviews for injured workers when an injury is referred to the Injury Management team.
  • Provide regular and succinct high level injury management updates to Senior Management, site HSEQ and business Division HSEQ regarding the planned management of all workplace injuries requiring Doctor intervention.
  • Develop proposed Return to Work Plans in line with medical guidance and in consultation with key stakeholders.
  • Liaise with payroll to ensure WC and IP payments are processed in line with insurer guidance.
  • Provide guidance to sites regarding the classification of injuries in line with the business’ classification procedures, medical evidence and the incident investigation findings.
  • Facilitate fitness for work assessments as required.
  • Provide strategic advice to Management and HR when fitness for work concerns are raised.
  • Assist HR in the termination of workers on medical grounds when medically appropriate.

About you 

  • Minimum 3 years injury management and WC experience;
  • Knowledge of WC legislation across multiple jurisdictions;
  • Allied Health qualification - Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Exercise Physiologist, or similar;
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal, conflict resolution, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to influence, engage and work collaboratively and effectively with diverse groups of internal & external stakeholders;
  • Have strong prioritisation, organisational and task management skills;
  • Experience in the Mining and Resources sector will be highly regarded but is not required;
