Nifty Surface Mine Project is located on the Western edge of the Great Sandy Desert, in the north-eastern Pilbara region of Western Australia. Nifty mine has proven a probable reserve of 93.9-million tonnes grading 0.85% copper. Production of Nifty is estimated to be 718,000 t Copper over the 21-year life of mine, including average production of 373 000t/y over the first 10 years.
Initially based in Perth on a 5/2 (Monday to Friday) roster, you will report to the Commercial Manager and play a key role in supporting the commercial and operational aspects of the project. Monthly site visits to the Nifty Mine will be part of your responsibilities, ensuring you remain closely connected to site activities and project developments.
The role will become a Permanent 4/3 roster FIFO from Perth by the end of the year, at which point you will report directly to the Project Director.
About the role
- Ensure commercial actions within the business risk model are in place and effective.
- Assist the Project Director in the accurate compilation of monthly reports and review packs
- Review all monthly claims for all contracts in a timely manner to ensure compliance and best practice
- Assist with the compilation of budgets and quarterly forecasts for Surface Mining
- Liaise with the contracts department to ensure all contract documentation is reviewed prior to acceptance and execution
- Ensure the Macmahon performance review process is followed and development plans are in place for all supervisors and the wider department
- Provide advice to site leadership in relation to financial KPI’s
- Participate in monthly cost reviews with the Project Manager

About you
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field
- Strong commercial awareness
- Good knowledge of financial and accounting processes
- Sound risk management knowledge
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to understand and interpret contractual documentation
- Excellent command of Microsoft applications, particularly Excel
