The Gwalia Gold Mine is located three kilometres south of the town of Leonora, Western Australia, and has been a flagship asset for our client St Barbara for the past 15 years. Macmahon is proud to be able to deliver a whole of mine service including mine development, ground support, production drilling and blasting, loading and trucking, shotcreting and paste fill reticulation from May 2021. The Gwalia mine is the cornerstone of Leonora operations and has strong margins supported by good grades and a focus on costs and returns. The site has a track record of continuous improvement, with a recently upgraded mine ventilation system, and a previous significant upgrade of the accommodation village that incorporated a number of energy efficient and environmentally friendly initiatives.

 

The Underground  team are seeking  a Shift Supervisors for Gwalia FIFO out of Perth. 

 

The primary focus of this role is to supervise the performance of the Macmahon operators, fitters and personnel stationed to the project with regards to Safety, Environment, Production Targets, Teamwork, Cost Control and Client Relations. The incumbent should ensure that all Macmahon values, policies and procedures are followed by their teams. 

 

Must meet the following criteria to be considered:

  • At least 7 years operational and practical experience in underground mining with at least 5 years in direct experience in production drilling or cable bolting;
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience; 
  • Have a high level of communication skills;
  • Results orientated team player who aspires to continuous improvement; and
  • Supervisors S1, S2, S3 or equivalent in applicable states.

 

Desirable but not essential:

  • WA Underground Supervisor's Certificate of Competency; and
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116).

The Macmahon Underground team are seeking Shift Supervisors to work FIFO on a 2:1 roster (Dayshift and Night Shift) from Perth to project site.

 

Must meet the following criteria to be considered:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an Underground Shift Supervisors role
  • Be able to monitor your crews competencies and training requirements;
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience in teams of 8+
  • MUST hold a WA Shift Supervisor Ticket
  • Have a high level of communication skills 
  • Hold a Shotfirers ticket and DGSC
  • Senor First Aid certificate desirable
  • Have a good Attitude - Set the Example
  • Have sound computer skills
  • Hold a Clear Police Check 
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Can Pass a Medical
