Senior Project Engineer

The Gwalia Gold Mine is located three kilometres south of the town of Leonora, Western Australia, and has been a flagship asset for our client St Barbara for the past 15 years. Macmahon is proud to be able to deliver a whole of mine service including mine development, ground support, production drilling and blasting, loading and trucking & shotcreting. The Gwalia mine is the cornerstone of Leonora operations and has strong margins supported by good grades and a focus on costs and returns. The site has a track record of continuous improvement, with a recently upgraded mine ventilation system, and a previous significant upgrade of the accommodation village that incorporated a number of energy efficient and environmentally friendly initiatives.


The Underground team are seeking appliocations from Mining Engineers and Senior Mining Engineers interesting in joining the high performing team at Gwalia on a FIFO based ex Perth - roster is negotiable. 


Position Responsibilities:


  • Conduct all aspects of engineering work: mine planning, design, scheduling, drill & blast support & equipment selection 
  • Provide technical and commercial support 
  • Provide technical engineering support and analysis 
  • Identify and actively participate in business improvement initiatives
  • Maintenance of the production reporting system 
  • Support in progress claim audits and forecast preparation for the project


Essential Requirements:


  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering - Mining or equivalent
  • Proven experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder relationship building skills
