Tyre Technical Specialist

Macmahon is currently seeking an experienced and passionate Tyre Technical Specialist to join our Plant Maintenance Team in our corporate head office near the Perth Airport.

Reporting directly to the Supply Manager, you will be responsible for providing technical tyre advice and support to our operations, and assisting in sourcing of tyres for the business.

The position of Tyre Technical Specialist is a key role to the Macmahon business and operating projects and requires regular site visits to multiple domestic and international projects. This role requires a high level of professional support and guidance to manage the execution of all earthmoving tyre processes in Macmahon from their procurement to scrapping and disposal.

The role’s key function is to ensure Macmahon achieves tendered tyre cost per hour targets and that Macmahon’s tyre related policies and procedures are in line with industry best practice


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide end to end technical advice and support to operating projects on all aspects of earthmoving tyre management including:
  • Ensuring the right tyre is selected and used for each application
  • Ensuring tyres are run to operating specifications
  • Providing Tyre Maintenance guidance
  • Ensuring tyre performance is closely monitored with the OEM’s and the required level of support is being received by Macmahon
  • Maintaining and upholding MAH tyre related safety standards and procedures and ensure they comply with mines act and best industry practice.
  • Completing tyre forecasting, procurement activities and arranging logistics
  • Ensuring tyre stocktakes are actioned regularly and efficiently.
  • Ensuring processes and systems are in place and maintained to allow accurate reporting analysis (EnTire Database)
  • Identifying Entire database deficiencies and rectifying
  • Establishing and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Reporting and communicating tyre performance regularly to Senior Management and key department heads
  • Live the company values of safety, prosperity, teamwork, integrity and environment


List essential:

  • 10 + years plus experience in Tyre Industry with experience in Supply Chain management
  • Demonstrated experience in tyre management, preferably within a mining environment.
  • High level of Interpersonal skills with Leadership ability.
  • Proficient computer skills with the ability to analyse data and formalise reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to consult with a range of people and recognise confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to work autonomously, have a high level of self-discipline, attention to detail, critical thinking, literately and communicatively.
  • Ability to work in remote locations as required.
  • Sound planning, organisational and administrative skills with demonstrated effectiveness in developing systems, processes and procedures, to prioritise tasks and ensure achievement of goals and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with customer relations and negotiation skills and techniques

Should you be successful in being offered a role in Macmahon's Surface Mining Division, you will be required to pass a medical and drug and alcohol test along with obtaining a National Police Certificate.
