Macmahon is currently seeking to appoint a confident, enthusiastic Category Lead Superintendent to join our professional Procurement team.

Due to significant growth throughout the business and our growing portfolio you will focus on category/sourcing projects, provide analysis, insights, market intelligence & trends to target initiatives that drive best commercial outcomes as aligned to the Macmahon Supply Strategy.

Your daily responsibilities will include supervising a high functioning sourcing team and delivering sourcing projects. Your ability to drive lowest total cost of ownership, cost savings, shareholder value and efficiencies are key fundamentals to be successful in this role.

This role is a full time position based at our head office near the Perth International Airport reporting directly to the Macmahon Supply Manager.

Key Responsibilities (not be limited to):

  • Supervise and lead sourcing team.
  •  Partner with business stakeholders to identify and prioritise category sourcing opportunities.
  •  Present proposed sourcing methodology and savings opportunities to seek endorsement from senior managers.
  • Advise on market constraints within key categories and work with Management team to implement strategies.
  • Lead the sourcing team with strong project management skills and risk management principles to ensure effective implementation of category sourcing initiatives including achieving targeted savings outcomes.
  • Lead RFP/Tender and commercial negotiations on behalf of the company ensuring commercially sensitive/market information is maintained and provided on a consistent basis with all suppliers.
  • Recommend suppliers for contract award based on best total cost of ownership
  • Execute contract award ensuring legal sign off and change management requirements including HSEQ are planned and fulfilled.
  • Ensure processes and systems are in place that allow accurate category sub- category reporting and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships including key suppliers, sites and corporate departments.
  • Facilitate and lead regular key supplier meetings to discuss current issues and identify savings and delivery improvements
  • Provide sites and stakeholders with updated product and supplier information.
  • Work closely with procurement team to ensure procurement activities are aligned to sourcing strategies.


Essential Skills:

  • 7 to 10 years plus experience in Procurement and Category management
  • Solid experience in Mining and/or Construction Industry
  • Solid experience with ERP system, Mainpac, SAP 4/Hana
  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications in Law, procurement, supply chains, logistics
  • Strong analytic, verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous Strategic Sourcing experience
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Strong Project Management, Risk Management & Change Management experience
  • Excellent attention to detail
