Job Summary

This role provides safety, hygiene, risk and associated advice to all departments focusing on the development and continual improvement of line capability and the use of related systems, keeps the Safety & Governance Superintendent informed of department and Site achievements, risks and trends, and contributes to overall and specific management of threat at Site

Job Responsibilities

Health, Safety and Risk

  • Actively advocate and motivate others to demand high standards of safety performance
  • Identify risks and hazards within work area and notify supervisor
  • Stop the job if an unsafe act or condition is observed and empower subordinates to do the same
  • Comply with Macmahon incident management procedures especially ensuring notification, reporting and investigation timeframes are achieved


  • Contribute to the development of operational plans for delivering safety services and projects for specific outputs of TGMs safety strategy
  • Prepare the 30 day plan to deliver quarterly targets
  • Deliver 30 day plans, identify and address variances to plan
  • Demonstrate Safety Leadership and improve the Safety Culture through developing line capability in delivering their safety accountabilities
  • Continually review, propose and where approved, contribute to the development of improved safety systems and procedures to optimise safety services provided at TGM for life of mine
  • Build and develop one’s own and contribute to the development of Safety Team department talent and capability to deliver the department strategy
  • Develop and maintain constructive relationships with all key TGM, AGAA, AGA, Joint Venture (JV), government, regulatory and other significant stakeholders to continually deliver TGMs long term success
  • Participate in Macmahon’s performance review process
  • Identify and implement improvement opportunities leading to safer workplaces, increased productivity and increased efficiencies


  • Assist the Project Manager/SSE to develop and monitor budgeting and forecasting for the efficient and effective use of resources and cost reduction
  • Performs duties in a cost effective manner
  • Comply 100% to the supply chain process

  • 5+ years' mining industry experience
  • Broad understanding of other mining disciplines including mining, processing and maintenance activities
  • Broad understanding of training
  • High level of general knowledge in safety, risk and hazard management
  • Previous operating experience in the mining industry
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to Travel when Required
  • Tertiary Qualification or Equivalent Experience in Safety
  • Manual Driver's Licence (C Class)
