Trade Assistant - Dawson South

Macmahon is a leading Australian contract mining company with projects throughout Australia and Southeast Asia. Delivering a comprehensive range of surface and underground mining, civil design and construction, performance enhancement, and mine site maintenance and rehabilitation services to the resources sector.
 

Due to the continuous growth and strengthening of our position Australia wide and the recent award of the contract at Dawson South, Macmahon has an opportunity for experienced Trade Assistants on a 7:7 roster DIDO of Biloela and surrounding towns.


The successful applicant will:

  • Collect tools and equipment for tradesmen
  • Provide general assistance to tradesmen
  • Embrace and support the maintenance department ‘s planning strategy regarding work order management and defect elimination
  • Conduct and participate in all weekly toolbox meetings, daily pre-shift meetings

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working in a mining environment (desirable)
  • Forklift Ticket
  • Working at Heights
  • Crane license (Advantage)
  • A “Can-do” attitude that fosters a positive workplace culture and team environment
  • Coal Board Medical and S11
  • Valid HR Drivers license
  • Drive a safety first workplace culture, which promotes a zero-harm work environment


Dawson is located at the southern end of the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland near the town of Moura; it is approximately one hour drive from Biloela and two hours from Rockhampton and Gladstone and is one of Australia’s longest established coal mines.
Macmahon see the Dawson South contract as pivotal in building and enhancing our surface mining footprint on the east coast.
As a part of the recruitment process for this role you may be required to complete a pre-employment medical, inclusive of laboratory drug and alcohol screen and complete a criminal history and qualification checks. Additionally, you will be asked to provide proof of working rights in Australia i.e. copy of valid Australian passport, birth certificate, citizenship certificate or current visa grant notification where applicable.
