Maintenance Superintendent - Dawson South

Macmahon is a leading Australian contract mining company with projects throughout Australia and Southeast Asia. Due to the continuous growth and strengthening of our position Australia wide and the recent award of the contract at Dawson South, Macmahon has an opportunity for dynamic leader in the role of Maintenance Superintendent to support our operations on a 5:2 roster.  This role will oversee supervision of maintenance work according to agreed plan, while maintaining a health & safe working environment with the prime objective of ensuring that the mechanical and equipment’s availability targets are achieved
 
Key accountabilities of this role include the following:

 

  • Supervising and coordinating the mobile maintenance activities on site
  • Ensuring adherence to maintenance plans, budgets and the availability and reliability of equipment on site
  • Providing strategic direction on mobile equipment maintenance strategies and improvement initiatives
  • Ensuring compliance with business processes and work is planned and scheduled
  • Developing and mentoring of Maintenance personnel
  • Ensuring the Stores function optimises spare parts and repairables to meet forward workload
  • To coordinate continuous improvement and optimization activities in order to ensure optimum efficiencies
  • To keep updated on the latest technical developments from OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) in order to be advised on any technical problem that arise from the use of project equipment
  • To consolidate reports from subordinates to produce effective back-log plant asset management plan and implementation in order to ensure the accurate presentation of daily, weekly and monthly reports
  • Liaise with operational departments to achieve optimal standards to plant reliability & availability
  • Ensuring the maintenance operations are managed in accordance with the Queensland Mining Safety and Health Act 1999 and the Queensland Safety and Health
  • Regulation 2001
  • Assist the Project Manager in ensuring compliance with the statutory obligations under Clause 43 of Queensland Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999

 

The successful candidate will possess the following:

 

  • Relevant trade/ engineering qualifications (ideally HD Fitting)
  • The ability to build and develop capability within a high performing team
  • Previous senior leadership experience within an open cut, mining environment
  • Strong background in heavy mobile maintenance and equipment lifecycle/strategies
  • A strong commitment to safety and excellent communication skills across all levels
  • Standard 11 induction
  • Coal Board Medical
  • Drug & Alcohol Screen
  • Drivers Licence (manual)

 

Dawson is located at the southern end of the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland near the town of Moura; it is approximately one hour drive from Biloela and two hours from Rockhampton and Gladstone and is one of Australia’s longest established coal mines.
Macmahon see the Dawson South contract as pivotal in building and enhancing our surface mining footprint on the east coast.

As a part of the recruitment process for this role you may be required to complete a pre-employment medical, inclusive of laboratory drug and alcohol screen and complete a criminal history and qualification checks. Additionally, you will be asked to provide proof of working rights in Australia i.e. copy of valid Australian passport, birth certificate, citizenship certificate or current visa grant notification where applicable.
