Engineer - Reliability

Macmahon Surface Mining Australia is expanding its Brisbane-based team and seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to support the safe, reliable and compliant performance of plant and equipment across our surface mining operations. To succeed, you’ll bring strong technical capability, experience in maintenance or reliability engineering, and solid knowledge of heavy mobile equipment condition monitoring and CMMS systems.

 

About the Role

  • Monitor plant condition and provide technical advice on emerging issues, equipment health risks, and developing failure patterns.
  • Identify, develop, and implement engineering solutions to address repeat failures, excessive downtime, unplanned cost drivers, and other performance limiting issues; escalate to OEMs when required.
  • Communicate and share reliability solutions, technical improvements, and standardized practices across Macmahon sites operating similar equipment to maximize organizational benefit.
  • Oversee and ensure the timely and high quality completion of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations, including following up OEM failure reports, documenting all findings, and sharing learnings with all relevant MAH mine site projects.
  • Review and optimise maintenance practices, Maintain and update reliability and performance reporting for MAH plant equipment.
  • Monitor plant health condition and provide technical advice on emerging issues, equipment health risks, and developing failure patterns.
  • Conduct Safe Act Observations (SAOs) and address any required process or behavioural corrections.

 

About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant trade qualification.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a similar maintenance-focused role.
  • Strong technical understanding of maintenance processes and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Solid knowledge of heavy mobile equipment condition monitoring and analysis.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance based CMMS systems for effective planning and scheduling.
