We are currently looking for an experienced HSEQ Advisor to join our Health, Safety, Environment and Quality team on an 8 days on 6 days off roster, flying in and out of Perth.

The successful candidate will be predominantly roving between our Australian surface mining operations, but will also spend some time between projects working in our headquarters based at Perth Airport. Please note that, some ad hoc domestic and international travels may be required outside of the 8:6 roster depending on our operational requirements.

Reporting to HSEQ Operations Manager, duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing a high degree of HSEQ support and guidance to domestic and international surface mining projects;
  • Assisting sites with ensuring compliance with the Management System procedures for Document Control and Control of Management System Records, ensuring policies and objectives are observed and followed in the execution of tasks;
  • Providing advice to project management and project personnel of the requirements of legislation, guidelines, Codes of Practice and Standards relevant to the workplace;
  • Supporting sites with the coordination of the workplace inspection and audit system and undertake internal HSE audits of the system or associated processes, procedures and workplace practices;
  • Guiding sites in the implementation of the Macmahon HSEQ Management System standards, through the site specific HSEQ Management Plan and effective implementation and monitoring of the HSEQ Activity Planner;
  • Implementing and facilitating of Safety Interaction programs and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Programs;
  • Delivering HSEQ training in compliance with the relevant procedures / plans as well as Macmahon HSEQ Management System;
  • Monitoring performance against the HSEQ strategic plan and objectives;
  • Completing all required lead indicator (HSEQ KPI) related activities (Task Observations, etc), when on site;
  • Assisting with project start-ups and tender submissions for new projects;
  • Promoting continuous improvement approach to HSEQ; and
  • Lead and support the projects’ with serious incident investigations.

To be considered for a role, you will require:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, accompanied by tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety; 
  • Working knowledge of the Mines Safety Inspection Act (WA) and similar legislation in other states;
  • Experience in HSEQ management systems such as INCONTROL;
  • Qualification in incident investigation such as ICAM;
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and engagement skills;
  • High level of computer literacy;
  • A 'can do' attitude with a strong desire to succeed in the role and a passion for health, safety, environment and community;
  • Ability to travel to remote locations domestically and internationally on a short notice; 
  • Ability to adapt to different projects and/ or clients requirements;
  • Senior First Aid Certificate; and
  • Current "C" Class WA Drivers Licence or equivalent.
