We currently have an opportunity for an Underground Project Superintendent within Macmahon. The purpose of this role is to efficiently manage and lead the numerous development mining operations of an expanding Underground mining division, whilst offering operational and technical expertise in order to ensure that all projects’ targets are achieved in a coordinated, cost effective, timely and safe manner.
The position is Perth based working typically Monday – Friday, with frequent site visits throughout Australia.
Key Accountabilities include:
Ensure all operations abide by the Macmahon core values of Safety, Teamwork, Prosperity, Integrity and care for the Environment;
Be cognizant of the Macmahon HSEQ strategy and its implications on the contracts within the division (measured by TRIFR, LTIFR, Lead Indicators and safety culture);
Coach, manage and engage with direct reports and subordinates in order to develop high performing teams and individuals (measured by turnover, performance and succession planning);
Develop and monitor strategic plans to ensure the longevity of the Underground business unit;
Monitor site performance against tender, budget and forecast, and take an active role in setting KPIs with respect to Revenue, PBT and other business initiatives;
Develop, manage and maintain Risk and Opportunity relating to the Underground business unit;
Liaise with respective Clients to ensure that all contractual matters and obligations are met in a timely manner;
Responsible for contract administration functions including monthly invoicing, contract correspondence and negotiations with respect to contract variations;
Review and report daily, weekly and monthly on the production and financial performance of the Underground operations’ to ensure that the General Manager and other key internal stakeholders are appropriately informed.
Essential Requirements for the position:
A minimum of ten (10) years underground mining experience, including at least five (5) years at middle management or a senior leadership level within a larger operation;
Current unencumbered West Australian "C" Class Drivers Licence;
Experience in budgeting, financial analysis, cost management and contract management;
Experience in performance management of team members enhancing team self-esteem using ability to coach, mentor and influence others and ability to build a strong performing team;
Excellent understanding of mining law and industrial relations;
Ability to travel frequently to operations within Australia and overseas to provide project management and technical support to numerous operations.
Desirable Requirements for the position:
Bachelor of Mining or Civil Engineering;
Current unrestricted First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency;
High level of understanding of mine operations and planning applications, with a proven ability to navigate integrated management systems, spreadsheet and word processing applications and presentation programs.
Formal leadership and management qualifications.
