Macmahon is a leading Australian company delivering an end to end service offering to clients throughout Australia and in South East Asia.  Delivering a comprehensive range of surface mining, underground mining and engineering services to the resources sector, Macmahon offers great opportunities for a diverse and exciting career in mining.

Macmahon is actively working across Africa to further develop its portfolio of large scale surface and underground projects, and the Macmahon team is now seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced leaders to support the potential expansion in our portfolio.

Roles currently targeted include Maintenance Manager, Commercial Superintendent, Mobile Equipment Trainers, Maintenance Technical Trainers and Production Superintendents. These positions will be offered as FIFO.

As these roles are key leadership roles for our business, we are looking for effective leaders with a bias for action and a drive to deliver results. Across the roles, responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Develop a strong safety and environmental culture;
  • Champion the Macmahon values to ensure they are firmly embedded in the project culture;
  • Build strong internal and external customer focused practices to deliver positive project results;
  • Apply effective contract management to ensure operations are executed in line with contract and client requirements, whilst ensuring risks are minimized and financial outcomes are maximized;
  • Direct, manage and control relevant manning activities;
  • Provide expertise and value in all aspects of the role;
  • Build a competent, engaged and performance driven national workforce and provide appropriate development opportunities to build internal capability;
  • Drive continuous improvement and identification of growth opportunities across the business;

To be successful in this role it is paramount that you possess:

  • 5+ years’ relevant experience in a similar leadership role within the mining industry;
  • Ability to lead, motivate and empower large national teams whilst maintaining high standards of safety and operational performance;
  • Able to incorporate a high level of cultural awareness and sensitivity in all dealings with our national workforce;
  • Strong contract management experience with particular focus on partnership style contracts with our clients;
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills;
  • A relevant degree/trade certificate and any other statutory qualifications;
  • Previous expatriate experience in Africa and a working command of the French language will be very well regarded
