Macmahon has a unique opportunity for an Inventory Controller to join the Perth Workshop team based near the Perth International Airport. The key function of this position is the continuous analysis of stock levels to determine optimum stock holding whilst leading a team of Dispatch/Warehouse Officers at the WAC facility.

The key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assign tasks to Dispatch/Warehouse Officers
  • Monitor performance of team
  • Provide constructive feedback on performance
  • Complete performance and development reviews as required
  • Ensure physical arrangement of receivables and dispatch areas are adequate for the process to operate safely and efficiently
  • Review procedures and enforce/coach employees on processes for the physical receipt of goods
  • Ensure all relevant training and verification of competencies are in place for warehouse officers to carry out all the tasks assigned to them
  • Comply with and ensure team compliance with inventory and related policies and procedures
  • Oversea stocktake process and investigate variances, identify areas of improvement to process and implement accordingly
  • Manage customer queries and complaints
  • Ensure priority freight meets deadline
  • Develop and apply tools to determine optimum stock holding quantity and location
  • Develop and apply measurement tools to determine cost effectiveness of inventory held
  • In consultation with the sites, implement changes to items being stocked
  • Review warehouse procedures to ensure they continuously improve
  • Review warehouse layouts to ensure it is optimum and meets all statutory requirements
  • Develop procedures/processes to ensure stocked items do not deteriorate or expire
  • Lead bi-annual stock takes at WAC and also on sites (lead/audit role)
  • Review catalogue to keep data clean

To be successful in this position you will ideally have:

  • Formal training in material management
  • Strong statistical analysis ability
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Customer handling skill Safety and housekeeping training
  • Forklift licence
  • At least 3 years’ practical experience in materials management
  • At least 1 year warehouse management experience
  • At least 2 years’ experience managing a team of more than 4 people
  • Natural drive to optimise and improve operations
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to perform ad hoc site visits
