Macmahon has a unique opportunity for a Component Controller to join the Perth Workshop team based near the Perth International Airport. This role focuses on managing the holding, sourcing and repairing of the rotable/repairable items to deliver the lowest cost per hour components to the business.

The key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide constructive feedback on site performance relating to the returning of components for repair
  • Provide constructive feedback on workshop performance in terms of meeting standardised rebuild costs and re-build durations
  • Ensure physical inspection of all items returned from site for repair within 48 hours of their delivery
  • Review procedures and enforce/train relevant personnel on process for the returning items to the WAC for repair of from the workshop to the warehouse once repairs are complete
  • Comply with and ensures workshop team compliance with repair related policies and procedures
  • Manage customer warrantee queries and complaints
  • Check that any component returned for repair has the relevant documentation associated with it and liaise with site to rectify
  • Ensure warrantee claims from customers are settled within 30 business days of being lodged
  • Participate in weekly component planning and scheduling meetings between central planning, the workshop and sites
  • Develop schedule for repairing components that (a) minimises use of external supply (b) minimises risk of component failure
  • Minimise “waiting for components” asset down time
  • Drive component cost per hour down
  • Review invoices and liaise with supply team to ensure suppliers are invoicing Macmahon fairly and that the work undertaken and hours charged are in line with expectations
  • Assist with failure analysis where there are component warrantee claims to ensure root causes of premature failures are identified and eliminated
  • Review component repair processes and procedures to ensure they continuously improve
  • Where repairs cannot be done by workshop, obtain estimate from external supplier

To be successful in this position you will ideally have:

  • Formal training as a machine or heavy duty fitter
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Advanced planning and scheduling skills
  • Experience working in a fabrication/refurbishment workshop environment including re-builds
  • Familiar with components used by Macmahon
  • Forklift licence
  • Failure analysis experience
  • Able to use Microsoft project
  • At least 5 years practical experience in building components for mining equipment
  • At least 1 year management experience
  • Proven experience in developing and meeting targets
  • At least 1 year experience in a planning/scheduling role
  • Proven experience in maintaining and meeting a budget of no less than $1M per year
  • Highly developed Interpersonal skills
